We just spent a wonderful weekend with friends in Toronto and our base was Le Germain Hotel on Mercer Street. I would highly recommend this boutique hotel for many reasons. First, the staff is exceptional. They are so friendly and accommodating. You can tell that pleasing their guests is top priority. Our room was beautiful and spacious with all the amenities you could want. The hotel common areas are tastefully decorated, well maintained and comfortable for lounging in with friends or family. We enjoyed our delicious breakfast in their beautiful restaurant, Victor. Lastly, the location is central to great shopping and entertainment. You can walk to so much or grab an Uber if needed. We plan to make this our “go to” from now on when staying downtown.
Right downtown, but on a quiet side street, so city noise was minimal. Walking distance from so many attractions, shops and restaurants. I appreciated the pre-arrival check-in, so all I had to do was show my ID and I got my key. There are only 11 floors in the hotel and 15 rooms per floor so it was smaller than the massive hotels in Toronto I'm used to. It was very quiet. The design of the room was thoughtful, bed and pillows were great, high ceilings, excellent shower. Nespresso maker in the room with proper coffee mugs. Restaurant looked nice but I didn't eat there. The only negative was the room perfume or cleaning products that were used had a very strong smell when I arrived, but staff assured me that next time I could have a scent-free room. I was very happy with my stay at Le Germain Mercer and I would not hesitate to return.
We’re already fans of the Le Germain brand and that was strengthened by our recent stay at the Toronto Mercer location. We only stayed for one night and wish we were around for the longer. The hotel was everything you’d expect from a Le Germain property. The location was excellent, especially for our primary purpose of going to the Blue Jays game. Valet service was handy. Staff were friendly. Our room was so comfortable and spacious, with a luxe bathroom. The hotel was also quiet, despite being in the entertainment district. We look forward to booking here on our next trip to Toronto.
This hotel is surrounded on all sides by very close high rise buildings leaving the rooms really dark with no view, except into the next building. The rooms are quite small and the bathroom had an odd sliding door rather strange. When we commented to reception that the room was very dark they said that the hotel is noted for its dark rooms so if you don't want a dark room go to our sister hotel. After that response I wasn't keen to go there either! The breakfast was included and on our first morning we were not given a menu or any choice offered and were simply presented with a plate of food. This included ham - which as a vegetarian I was obviously not too happy about. I can only imagine that some people would also object for religious reasons and find it offensive. The service always seemed poor and rushed. It wasn't all bad, the small rooftop terrace was very pleasant and the service there really friendly and efficient. The doormen also deserve a mention as being helpful and doing a good job.As an expensive hotel I would expect a lot better. I expect they are catering for the conference business. Disappointing, I would not go back or recommend it.
The room was very large and the bed, enormous and comfortable. It was hot outside so we were pleased the air conditioning worked well. With so much space it would have been good to have 2 easy chairs instead of just the one. Everywhere was immaculately clean and well presented. Now I come to the bathroom issues. Personal preference I know, but I really don't want to bathe or shower in full view of the other occupant in the room. There was a clear glass panel between the bath/shower and the main room. Yes there was a blind to close, but the slats didn't completely meet. When getting out of the shower there is no privacy. The toilet was in a separate cubicle thank goodness. Hurrah for The excellent bathrobes. The continental breakfast was tasty and the servers attentive. The staff working the entrance were excellent, friendly and very helpful. So much was very good about this hotel, but in some aspects it didn't quite meet our expectations.
After two weeks touring Newfoundland this hotel was meant to be a treat before flying back to England. Although our most expensive hotel room it was somewhat lacking. Absolutely no hotel information in the room other than an extremely expensive list of items for sale which included a small bottle of water for .€5.00! Larger bottles were free in the majority of far less expensive hotels we’ve stayed in over the past two weeks. Weird bathroom! No door and bath gel in fixed bottles mounted far too high to reach whilst bathing. Great TV but sadly no channel guide do we had no clue what we could watch. Only 3 coffee pods and two creamers provided and not replaced (until we asked) for our second night. Not the hotels fault but they could have warned us about the massive construction going on in the street outside.Bedside USB sockets don’t work!
Superb trendy boutique hotel experience. Had a comfortable overnight stay - the room has a masculine aesthetic which is different from most bright white rooms- think dark browns and black walls which was a nice change. Brown wood slat blinds between the glass bathroom and room. Lots of spaces for hanging clothes or placing bags. Nice long lengths of desk/table for work. We used a meeting room and the catered food was superb. Delicious soup salads sandwiches and desserts. Our dinner at Victors was also beautifully plated and lovely. Agree with other comments there is a lot of construction in Toronto currently. Nobu is going up across the alley street/main door.Everyone is so friendly here from door man to check in to servers at catering. No hesitation recommending and also for local overnight getaway.
This is a gem of a hotel in a great downtown Toronto location. I was attending a conference at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, and the location couldn't have been better. Every aspect was superb - the decor, the room furnishings, the gym and the bar (shout-out to the great Manhattans!). I didn't eat at the restaurant but the menu looked great, and I'm sure the food would have been on a par with the rest of the property.
I have been a loyal guest since its opening in 2003. That in itself says a lot. However, much has changed over the years. This hotel used to be the pinnacle of a boutique hotel. Beautiful decor, chocolates near your bed, an incredible breakfast included in your stay, bottled water as you leave the hotel, and soaps and lotions from Molton Brown. Sadly, no chocolates, no breakfast, no water, no Molton Brown products. All the extras that I loved are gone. Not sure what caused the decision to eliminate these lovely perks. Worst of all, the surrounding construction has limited the sunlight into the hotel casting some darkness on several parts of the hotel. What hasn't changed, is the impeccable service and the staff's willingness to help with any request.
